The Peterborough 360 Degree Nurse Practitioner – Led Clinic (NPLC) is a dynamic community-based interdisciplinary primary health care clinic providing comprehensive primary health care services to individuals and families residing in Peterborough City and County.

Job Summary
Working within the interdisciplinary team, the Medical Office Assistant’s primary role is to provide direct and indirect contact with clients, community partners, and visitors, and to liaise with and provide administrative support to the primary care providers.

We are looking for a Medical Office Assistant who:

Key Responsibilities:
Performs reception-related duties in a compassionate, professional, nonjudgmental and helpful manner.
Monitors clinic phones, voicemail, mail, and email.
Greets and checks-in clients and visitors to the clinic.
Responds to inquiries from clients, visitors, and staff; books appointments and manages the daily schedules of all providers.
Manages and processes incoming and outgoing faxes, referrals, prescriptions, and lab results. Documents as appropriate in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Supports the NPLC’s shower, laundry and harm reduction programs, and distributes related items.
Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
Diploma or certificate in a Medical Office Administration program required.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a front-line health/mental health care setting required, or a reasonable equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
Ability to accommodate multiple demands and to prioritize work.
High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
High skill level and experience interacting with individuals who face multiple challenges gaining access to services including those who have experienced trauma.
High skill level and experience with crisis de-escalation and intervention.
Excellent client service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of personal health information.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a part of a team.
Experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR) required. Experience using Telus PSS an asset.
Strong computer/technical skills and proficiency using the internet, Windows, Microsoft Word and Outlook required. Experience using Excel an asset.
