SEEKING BOARD MEMBERS
We are seeking new Board members with diverse knowledge, skills, and experience to help guide our organization as it continues its vital work in the community.
Located in the downtown core, we have expertise in the provision of care to those whose health is made vulnerable by poverty, homelessness, and poor access to the social determinants of health. We operate from a harm reduction philosophy and are committed to working within an anti-oppression and anti-racist philosophical framework that is trauma-informed and which values cultural humility and inclusiveness.
Our Vision: Our vision is to provide collaborative and accessible primary health care for all.
What We Do: We are a dynamic, community-based interdisciplinary primary health care clinic that strives to meet the needs of individuals and groups by providing primary health care that is equitable, person-centred, and widely accessible.
Directors serve in a meaningful way to support the NPLC’s strategic mission, vision, and goals, and by so doing provide a united leadership profile to the community. They serve as ambassadors for the clinic’s work and provide their expertise, experiences, and networks to maximize the positive profile of the organization. While as a Nurse-Practitioner-Led Clinic we aspire to have Nurse Practitioners on our governance Board, we also seek members with expertise in other fields and with a diversity of experiences to help broaden the Board’s perspective.
Currently, we are looking for members of the Peterborough community who:
- Reflect the diversity of the patients we serve, including people from Indigenous or other racialized communities or who identify as LGBTQ2S+; and/or
- Have financial (preferably accounting) expertise; and/or
- Have active and meaningful engagement with the Peterborough community, are interested in health care, and understand the effects of the social determinants on health.
The Board meets monthly, with a minimum of 8 meetings a year. In addition, Board members also serve on at least one, Board committee. Board member terms are normally two years in length.
